Tech Tool Task #1: Wordle

This creative word cloud was created using the free website, Wordle.

The website was easy to navigate, and easy to use. You simply

paste any bit of text you would like to use into the website,

and then it spits out a word cloud. The more a word

appears in the text, the larger it becomes. The website

even allows you to customize font, position, color, and the

number of words in the cloud.

Wordle doesn't have to be used just for word clouds. One

example of other uses is text analysis. Say you've been too

busy watching Netflix to read a poem for school, and you

need to know what it's about in twenty minutes. No problem.

Use Wordle to see which word appears most often, and get a

general idea of what it's about. I recommend actually reading said poem,

but it will work in a pinch.

Tech Tool Task #2: Voki

These avatars were created using the website, Voki. However, many options were unavailable, because you must pay to use them. The website was fairly easy to navigate, and custimaze your avatars.

These avatars could be a great teaching tool, especially for younger kids. Young kids (and high schoolers, I'll admit) get excited over the prospect of watching a video. It's a fun way to grab your audience's attention and get information across in a creative way.

It may have just been the computer I was working on, but the changes to my character were a bit delayed. It was a bit frusterating, because I thought it wasn't working at first. Other than that slight hiccup, I'd suggest giving this website a go.

Tech Tool Task #3: Prezi

Prezi is an online presentation creator. You are able to make a beefed up powerpoint with the help of their "easy to edit" templates. Prezi can be used by teachers, businessmen, students, or anyone who wants to present information creatively. However, if you want to add more slides to your Prezi, you encounter a bit of a problem. I had the hardest time trying to customize my Prezi to my liking. Maybe if I spend more time with the program I would understand it better. I just found it really frustrating, and not quite as straight forward as it should be. Over all, Prezi looks professional, and is easy to use if you are a technology genius or just filling out the available templates.

Staff Pick #1:

This Prezi was definitely made as a presentation tool. It wasn't very text heavy, and they did a great job of zooming in on the appropriate information. I thought the presentation had an understandable flow. I would be curious to see this actually presented.

Staff Pick #2:

I appreciated the use of dissolving the text in. The presentation has an artistic flow, and is done very creatively. The colors fit together well. Over all, I thought it was just a fun presentation. I can see CEOs appreciating this Prezi as much as I did.
